General Information:
- Character Name: Lyune
- Age: 18-24
- Referred By: Quick's recruitment post on the official Aion forums
- Character Class: Chanter
- Character Level: Presently level 39. Yes, I know you were wanting higher, but I'm still trying anyway.
- Have you read the copy of our guild rules and guidelines found in the Official Charter?
Yes, I have.
- Do you intend to make use of our guild forums, why do you think forums are important to guilds?
Certainly intend to. Forums are a great way to make a heads-up for everyone, presently online or not. It disappoints me that some other guilds have forums that are hardly touched.
- Do you intend to make use of our Ventrilo Server if no please state the reason why?
If possible. Currently don't have a working mic, so I can't talk. Also, my college is a bit paranoid about which ports it blocks. I haven't had much luck connecting to various Ventrillo servers (or most online games for that matter). They even block the ports used by the LFG, General, Trade, and other in-game channels (let me tell you, no access to LFG makes finding a team ridiculously difficult). Anyway, I might be able to connect to yours, I might not.
At home, I have no such issues with connecting.
Game Experience :
- How much experience do you have in MMORPG's? What games have you played in the past?
Runescape: about three days nine years ago.
World of Warcraft: about a hour sometime just before their first expansion.
City of Heroes: Well over a year's worth of time, ten months subscription with my own account, some months playing my brother's prior to the Mac Client being released. I have four 50s in that game, two very well equipped, so I'd say I'm well versed in that game. Currently unsubscribed since my college blocks the ports this game needs, but I plan to return to it.
- Do you have experience in any MMORPG that contained Open-PvP, such as ShadowBane, Age of Conan, or Ultima Online?
I guess zone PvP in CoH counts? One of my 50's is a Radiation Emission/Sonic Attack Defender and her second build is for PvP and fully slotted as such. I was pretty darn successful for playing what was considered to be a gimped AT in CoH's current iteration of PvP. I'd receive comments along the lines of "You're the toughest Defender I've ever fought" on occasion.
- How familiar do you feel with Aion (it's features, interface, game-play.)?
Very comfortable, though I'm not fully familiar with all the classes and their capabilities. I have a general idea, but not the intimate knowledge I'd prefer. Outside of classes, while I feel quite knowledgable, I'm sure there's still plenty for me to learn. I mean, only last night I learned there's an item called "Mind Crystal" that restores mana.
- Do you feel comfortable in the open-PvP atmosphere of Aion?
Relatively. I'd feel better with better gear or with teammates at my back, I'm usually stuck solo hoping a twinked and/or higher level player doesn't show up to ruin my fun. Worse when it's a group. But against someone around my level with similar gear, I'm much more confident... although I still seem to forget to turn on those power shards...
- What drew you towards playing your class?
In CoH, my two favorite classes are the Scrapper, the premiere melee AT, and the Defender, the premiere support AT. I always said if they made a "Scrapfender" AT, I'd jump both those ships to get on that one. The Chanter is that ship.
Also, staff combat. 'Nough said.
- What are your class roles in a six man party?
Oh dear... I'll... ummm... try to keep this brief. No guarantees though.
1. Pay constant attention to the surrounding and how each member of the group is doing. Adjust Mantras as needed. Maintain Word of Recovery on the tank and anyone else drawing damage frequently. If I'm tanking, which is rare, I get the HoT. The rest of this section assumes I'm not tanking, since my tanking as a Chanter relies quite a bit on improvising based on the situation.
2. If the group is doing fine, or I'm off-healing and the main healer has the situation covered, proceed to kick butt.
3. If my action is needed as either an off or main healer, see who needs what done. The main healer, if it's not me, gets the priority for my heals, followed by the tank, the off-healer (if it's not me or there's another), the off-tank, the mezzers, and then everyone else. Try to draw aggro via healing and even damage off the Clerics if need be. Between Focused Parry and Protective Ward, I can take hits better than he can.
4. If the situation isn't looking good, pop any and all long cooldown buffs I feel is needed to survive. Word of Protection for added survivability, Word of Life for more team healing, Word of Quickness for machine-gun healing, and so forth.
5. If retreat is the only alternative to the group wiping, defensive mantras and Celerity get popped, any defensive buffs I haven't used are flipped on, and I leave with the party, popping HoTs as needed and even pausing for a quick heal for others if it won't kill me. If I have too much aggro and am certain I won't survive, I'll get away from the team and, ideally, somewhere where a mob isn't parked so those mobs reset instead of chasing my team. Better I die then the whole group.
Clan Related Questions:
- Why do you want to join Dominus Letum?
I'm in the process of looking for an active legion who has at least some people I can team with during most times I log on. I'm currently a member of another Legion, but this merely to try them out to see they're right for me. So far, they don't seem to be.
- What do you expect from Dominus Letum?
Grouping, help, and fun. And not to boot me if I have to unsub for a month or two. I'm a poor college student, so sometimes other things take priority when it comes to money. :/
- What do you expect to bring to Dominus Letum?
My best capability. Sure, I may only be level 39 right now, but I'm willing to go after everything that'll allow me entry. Also, I currently have 330 Cooking (hopefully I'll be at expert within a week or so, depending on free time) and 301 Alchemy (experting after cooking, not looking forward to the test). So, even though you probably already have experts in everything, I can craft for the legion too.
- If the opportunity presents itself would you be willing to hold a position of authority within the guild? If yes please give your reason as to why you feel you could be a good authoritive figure.
My present schedule and amount of free time would have to say no. Maybe sometime in the future, but I wouldn't be able to make the the commitment.
- At any time in the past have you been a member of, or applied to any other Aion legions; also do you intend to apply to any other Aion legions? If yes, what guilds have you belonged, applied or intend to apply to?
Mean Girls. We didn't fare well on Aion, I was the highest level and eventually only active member for several months.
March of the Blumpkins on Aion. My current legion, but I'm considering leaving (hence my application to you). They're not bad and they're around my level, but they're rarely on when I am, so even with them I'm more or less stuck solo still. They're also really tiny, I think most of the members are alts.
- Have you been a member of any other clan/legion(s) before? If yes, what was the name of the clan/legion(s) and why did you leave? [non-Warhammer Clans]
Mean Girls on CoH. Haven't left, but since this guild has no prescense there and MG no longer has prescense on Aion, there shouldn't be any conflict. One of my friends from there still plays Aion and would like a good Legion on Siel, though her characters are only around 30 or lower for now. So, if I'm recruited, I could also refer her to you.
Longevity Related Questions:
- Dominus Letum is first and foremost a “family type guild” where a group of talented MMORPG games came together in a zero drama environment. We favor quality of the player VS quality of the game. We take pride in our friendship and in the future wish to extend our realm of influence to different games. How do you feel about our ambitions?
Definite plus, to say the least.
Misc Information:
Please use this space to provide us with any other information you think would be important to helping us choose you as a member.
I like to be good at the games I play. I mean, really good. While being the uber bestest evar isn't necessary, I do like my skill standing out from the crowd. Consequently, I play hard while I'm on. Most importantly though, I remember the game is just that: a game. While I can get frustrated with somethings, I don't take it personal nor do I go into a rage. Games are meant to be fun, so that's priority. Even if it means finding an unorthodox style.
I also try to be active, though my play schedule is a bit erratic.
I guess here I should say, I haven't had the best luck with gear. While I've been able to keep it up to date, it's almost entirely greens. I've only just gotten a blue item that actually benefits my character and have never even touched an orange crating mat on anyone, let alone a piece of orange gear. I really want to get better stuff so I'm not constantly at a disadvantage, but kinah is tight.
Personal Information:
Not really comfortable giving out much about me to people I don't know. What I will say though is I'm currently a college student and my hobbies focus primarily on games, writing, roleplaying, and reading. Oh, and I'm probably one of the very few in Aion who plays from a Mac (albeit via Bootcamp).
Also, the forum said my post was too long, so I had to go back and trim things and only format one color. My log-in also timed out while typing it. :/
